What is "SAP Fiori"?

SAP's new user interface is SAP Fiori. It stands for a completely different user concept, namely intuitive, user-oriented and lean dialogues. It can be used for mobile devices and at the same time is visually appealing. This creates a big plus for the user, because the applications are available everywhere and at any time, independent of the end device and with a uniform user interface. For all future SAP applications, SAP Fiori is the declared technology. Fiori apps are used throughout the latest ERP system, SAP S/4HANA, as the front end. New components are also delivered in the classic Business Suite with the latest technology.

However, not only SAP products are equipped with Fiori interfaces. SAP offers a range of Fioris for the conventional SAP Business Suite as possible frontends. The technology is therefore also of interest for already existing application landscapes. SAP provides the Fiori apps, which are sample applications, free of charge. There are now over 1000 prefabricated applications. Through customising, the SAP Fiori standard apps can be expanded and adapted to a limited extent.

Otherwise, custom interfaces can be developed with SAPUI5. SAP provides the SAP Web IDE to develop your own Fiori apps or to adapt existing apps. An SAP NetWeaver Gateway system is required to use SAP Fiori Apps.

The SAP Fiori Launchpad is the central, web-based entry point for all SAP business applications across all platforms and devices. The idea is therefore to consolidate all SAP UI clients (mobile clients, SAP portal clients, NWBC and SAPGUI) in the SAP Fiori Launchpad.
