What is SAP MM (Material Management)
SAP MM (Material Management) is used as a business software for controlling materials management or merchandise management and is thus one of the most important modules in SAP ERP. It is incorporated alongside other management systems such as sales, production, customer service and other modules under the generic term logistics within SAP. The main task of SAP MM is the planning and control of material flows. Services are also part of this control and administration of processes. Sub-areas of MM are the procurement process of goods or services, master data maintenance of suppliers and materials, inventory, invoice verification, warehousing, and much more. Since SAP MM is involved in many different business areas, it is very strongly networked with other modules. For example, materials are managed in financial accounting based on their commercial valuation. Again, stock withdrawals lead to automatic bookings in controlling.
